The Landesmuseum Hannover is dedicating a special highlight to the Dutch engraver and painter Hendrick Goltzius with the special exhibition “Transformation of the World — Master Sheets by Hendrick Goltzius”. From 31 October 2025 to 1 March 2026, around 80 sheets will showcase the remarkable career of this virtuoso artist, who was considered an all-round genius of his time. The exhibition brings to life his innovative technique, his dynamic visual language and the versatility of his work: heroes, goddesses and allegories reflect his fascination with ancient mythology as well as Christian themes. Goltzius’ extraordinary ability to combine different styles and techniques and to link tradition with reinvention make him a master of transformation.
The compilation of important works from the art collection of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and from the Kupferstichkabinett of the Landesmuseum Hannover is particularly impressive. The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in Hendrick Goltzius’ richly detailed and constantly changing world of images — a voyage of discovery to an artist whose works continue to fascinate to this day.
