The Meissen Porcelain Foundation is celebrating its tenth anniversary with the anniversary exhibition “Maladie 2.0. The passion of collecting” and invites visitors on a unique journey of discovery into the world of collecting. The foundation, which has been preserving, researching and exhibiting the cultural heritage of Meissen porcelain since 2014, is presenting selected pieces from its impressive collection of around 33,000 objects as part of the exhibition. More than 2,000 exhibits can be discovered in the permanent exhibition as well as in changing special exhibitions.
The exhibition is named after Augustus the Strong, who once described his passion for collecting “white gold” as a “malady”. To this day, generations of collectors share this enthusiasm for Meissen porcelain. The exhibition combines historical and contemporary perspectives and invites visitors to experience the complexity of collecting in all its facets. Artists creatively address the cultural significance and history of porcelain, while new additions to the collection and reviews of themed exhibitions from the last ten years provide new insights into the work of the foundation. A must for all friends of Meissen porcelain and for anyone who wants to understand the fascination of collecting!
