The Stadt­mu­se­um Wei­mar is de­di­ca­ting a spe­cial pho­to ex­hi­bi­ti­on to the re­mar­kab­le per­so­na­li­ty Loui­se Ebert (1873–1955), which can be seen un­til 15 Fe­bru­ary 2026. A to­tal of 50 images por­tray the life of the wo­man who, as the wi­fe of Fried­rich Ebert, be­ca­me the first First La­dy of a de­mo­cra­ti­cal­ly elec­ted head of sta­te in Ger­ma­ny af­ter his elec­tion as Pre­si­dent of the Wei­mar Re­pu­blic on 11 Sep­tem­ber 1919.

The ex­hi­bi­ti­on, a col­la­bo­ra­ti­on wi­th the Stif­tung Reichs­prä­si­dent-Fried­rich-Ebert-Ge­denk­stät­te Hei­del­berg and un­der the pa­tro­na­ge of to­day’s First La­dy El­ke Bü­den­ben­der, ta­kes a uni­que look at a wo­man who­se life and com­mit­ment set an ex­am­p­le in a tur­bu­lent time. Vi­si­tors will have the op­por­tu­ni­ty to dis­co­ver the ma­ny facets of Loui­se Eber­t’s per­so­na­li­ty and ro­le in the his­to­ri­cal con­text of ear­ly Ger­man de­mo­cra­cy.
