The exhibition “I am Flux — The Freedom of Being and the Possibilities of Becoming” in the project space of Berlin’s Urban Nation Museum opens up fascinating perspectives on the constant transformation of identity in a dynamic, technology-driven present. Twelve international artists, supported by the Fresh A.I.R. programme and the Martha Cooper Scholarship, address the transition of the self between transformation, artistic expression and technological innovation. In their works, they search for new forms, reflect on gender roles, question traditional boundaries and create bridges between the body, technology and metaphysical spaces of experience.
Organised into the three thematic areas “Horizons of Being”, “Whispers of Existence” and “Beyond Limits”, the contributions range from critical discourses on identity and gender to poetic reflections on visibility and absence and creative extensions of the human through technology and nature. The diverse forms of expression — from installations and sculptures to video, digital media, XR technologies, painting and performance — make “I am Flux” a multimedia experience that makes it possible to experience questions about one’s own being and becoming in the course of time both artistically and thoughtfully.
