Han­di­ly immor­ta­li­sed — 75 ye­ars of the Sa­x­o­ny-An­halt Sta­te Co­in Ca­bi­net

The Kunst­mu­se­um Mo­ritz­burg Hal­le (Saa­le) is ce­le­bra­ting the 75th an­ni­ver­sa­ry of the Sa­x­o­ny-An­halt Sta­te Co­in Ca­bi­net wi­th the ca­bi­net ex­hi­bi­ti­on “Hal­le han­dy”. The show, which will be on dis­play from 12 Oc­to­ber 2025 to 15 Fe­bru­ary 2026, pres­ents around 150 me­dals from fi­ve cen­tu­ries, com­ple­men­ted by cur­rent works by Hal­le’s fe­ma­le sculp­tors.They not on­ly re­flect the eventful histo­ry of the ci­ty on the Saa­le, but al­so tell of the wis­hes, ho­pes and ad­mi­ra­ti­on of its fe­ma­le in­ha­bi­tants. Par­ti­cu­lar­ly ap­pe­al­ing: all Hal­le re­si­dents we­re in­vi­ted to crea­te small mo­nu­ments to their ci­ty, which are now pre­sen­ted as char­ming, in­ti­ma­te tes­ti­mo­nies to their at­ti­tu­de to life.

The rich coll­ec­tion of the art mu­se­um shows in its di­ver­si­ty the his­to­ri­cal per­so­na­li­ties, land­marks and in­sti­tu­ti­ons that make Hal­le spe­cial. The ex­hi­bi­ti­on is a de­cla­ra­ti­on of love for the im­per­fect and the beau­tiful, immor­ta­li­sed in me­dals as “han­dy” mo­nu­ments. Wi­th its mul­ti-face­ted image, it not on­ly ho­no­urs the nu­mis­ma­tic histo­ry of Sa­x­o­ny-An­halt, but al­so the crea­ti­ve com­mit­ment of the ci­ty­’s so­cie­ty — a vi­sit that makes the art and histo­ry of Hal­le (Saa­le) tan­gi­ble in a spe­cial way.
