The Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle (Saale) is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Saxony-Anhalt State Coin Cabinet with the cabinet exhibition “Halle handy”. The show, which will be on display from 12 October 2025 to 15 February 2026, presents around 150 medals from five centuries, complemented by current works by Halle’s female sculptors. They not only reflect the eventful history of the city on the Saale, but also tell of the wishes, hopes and admiration of its female inhabitants. Particularly appealing: all Halle residents were invited to create small monuments to their city, which are now presented as charming, intimate testimonies to their attitude to life.
The rich collection of the art museum shows in its diversity the historical personalities, landmarks and institutions that make Halle special. The exhibition is a declaration of love for the imperfect and the beautiful, immortalised in medals as “handy” monuments. With its multi-faceted image, it not only honours the numismatic history of Saxony-Anhalt, but also the creative commitment of the city’s society — a visit that makes the art and history of Halle (Saale) tangible in a special way.
