The exhibition “Fluxuriös! Art and Anti-Art from the 1960s to the 1990s” at the Archive of the Avant-Garde — Egidio Marzona (Albertinum, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) traces one of the most uncompromising artistic movements of the 20th century: Fluxus and action art. International artists such as George Brecht, Joseph Beuys, Charlotte Moorman, Dick Higgins, Ben Vautier, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Takako Saito and Wolf Vostell are represented with works that deliberately blur the boundaries between art and everyday life. Experiments, happenings and subversive performances have challenged and changed the art world for good.
Diverse works ranging from performative actions and mail art to interdisciplinary “Fluxkits” — often created from everyday objects and works on paper — invite visitors to rediscover the impulses of this pioneering movement in the exhibition. The exhibition understands Fluxus as an open, social and playful process that is still considered an inspiration for contemporary artistic and social action today. Students from the Dresden University of Fine Arts will pick up on these impulses and present their own works as part of the exhibition in spring 2026.
