The exhibition “Close Enough — Perspectives by Women Photographers of Magnum” at C/O Berlin impressively presents the photographic works of twelve female photographers from the renowned Magnum Photos agency. From 27 September 2025 until January 2026, the exhibition will focus on the question of closeness and the relationship between female photographers and their subjects — a theme that gives a whole new meaning to Robert Capa’s famous quote, “If your pictures aren’t good enough you’re not close enough”. Closeness is not reduced to physical distance here, but is understood as a complex connection, trust and complicity. The works tell of intimacy and belonging as well as of strangeness, vulnerability and power relations, thus also questioning the common assumption that physical closeness is synonymous with transparency.
Accompanied by personal texts by the photographers and a specially produced audio guide, the exhibition provides insights into a wide range of photographic approaches — from long-term projects, such as Alessandra Sanguinetti’s long-term study in rural Argentina, to Myriam Boulos’ socially turbulent series in Lebanon and critical analyses of representation, power and self-empowerment by Hannah Price, Cristina de Middel and others. “Close Enough” shows how photography from a female perspective shapes current debates about belonging, physicality and artistic self-determination.
