And so on to in­fi­ni­ty — 100 ye­ars of stylus art in the Ham­bur­ger Kunst­hal­le

Wi­th the ex­hi­bi­ti­on “And so on to in­fi­ni­ty”, the Ham­bur­ger Kunst­hal­le is ce­le­bra­ting the 100th an­ni­ver­sa­ry of the Grif­fel­kunst-Ver­ei­ni­gung Ham­burg e. V. and is pre­sen­ting a re­mar­kab­le sel­ec­tion of gra­phic works in the Ga­le­rie der Ge­gen­wart from 7 No­vem­ber 2025 to 18 Ja­nu­ary 2026. The show in­cludes li­tho­graphs, screen prints, et­chings, wood­cuts, pho­to­graphs and C‑prints from the rich pro­gram­me of the last 100 ye­ars as well as ar­chi­ve do­cu­ments that im­pres­si­ve­ly re­flect the de­ve­lo­p­ment and di­ver­si­ty of ar­tis­tic print­ma­king. A spe­cial fea­ture of the Grif­fel­kunst-Ver­ei­ni­gung is the com­bi­na­ti­on of edi­ti­ons by well-known na­tio­nal and in­ter­na­tio­nal fe­ma­le ar­tistswi­th works by less es­tab­lished, of­ten young fe­ma­le ar­tistsof dif­fe­rent ge­ne­ra­ti­ons and ori­g­ins.

Sin­ce 1925, the Grif­fel­kunst-Ver­ei­ni­gung has be­en com­mit­ted to ma­king ori­gi­nal gra­phic edi­ti­ons ac­ces­si­ble to a lar­ge cir­cle of mem­bers, com­bi­ning tra­di­ti­on and in­no­va­ti­on — the as­so­cia­ti­on curr­ent­ly has around 4,500 mem­bers from all over Ger­ma­ny. The Ham­bur­ger Kunst­hal­le has ac­com­pa­nied this de­ve­lo­p­ment sin­ce its foun­da­ti­on and has shown num­e­rous edi­ti­ons in ex­hi­bi­ti­ons over the ye­ars. The cur­rent an­ni­ver­sa­ry ex­hi­bi­ti­on was cu­ra­ted by Dr Co­rin­ne Di­ser­ens, wi­th sci­en­ti­fic as­sis­tance from Ja­na Pfort, and of­fers an in­spi­ring in­sight in­to the gra­phic work of ar­tists such as Ger­hard Rich­ter, Wa­lid Raad, Ro­se­ma­rie Trockel, Ul­la von Bran­den­burg, Sig­mar Pol­ke, Die­ter Roth, Dan Gra­ham and Nan­cy Spe­ro. Vi­si­tors can ex­pect not on­ly a mul­ti­face­ted art show, but al­so a jour­ney th­rough the histo­ry and fu­ture of mo­dern print­ma­king.
