With the exhibition “And so on to infinity”, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Griffelkunst-Vereinigung Hamburg e. V. and is presenting a remarkable selection of graphic works in the Galerie der Gegenwart from 7 November 2025 to 18 January 2026. The show includes lithographs, screen prints, etchings, woodcuts, photographs and C‑prints from the rich programme of the last 100 years as well as archive documents that impressively reflect the development and diversity of artistic printmaking. A special feature of the Griffelkunst-Vereinigung is the combination of editions by well-known national and international female artistswith works by less established, often young female artistsof different generations and origins.
Since 1925, the Griffelkunst-Vereinigung has been committed to making original graphic editions accessible to a large circle of members, combining tradition and innovation — the association currently has around 4,500 members from all over Germany. The Hamburger Kunsthalle has accompanied this development since its foundation and has shown numerous editions in exhibitions over the years. The current anniversary exhibition was curated by Dr Corinne Diserens, with scientific assistance from Jana Pfort, and offers an inspiring insight into the graphic work of artists such as Gerhard Richter, Walid Raad, Rosemarie Trockel, Ulla von Brandenburg, Sigmar Polke, Dieter Roth, Dan Graham and Nancy Spero. Visitors can expect not only a multifaceted art show, but also a journey through the history and future of modern printmaking.
